The first ever Lifetime Achievement Shorty Award went to Conan O’Brien. He wasn’t able to make it to the 3rd Annual Shorty Awards to receive his award in person, but he was kind enough to send us a video of his acceptance speech.
As always, Conan was very professional and kept his speech short and to-the-point.
“A person should set his goals as early as he can and devote all his energy and talent to getting there. With enough effort, he may achieve it. Or he may find something that is even more rewarding. But in the end, no matter what the outcome, he will know he has been alive.”—Walt Disney
Bicho- it literally means “bug” in Spanish, but in Puerto Rico it is used as a slang word for “penis”.
¡Bicho es!- it is used as an interjection meaning “no way!” or “hell no!”.
Bichote- A neighborhood drug “big shot”.
Bicha- derived from the English term bitch, meaning a woman or young girl who behaves like a drama queen or who is rude and obnoxious.
Bellaca/bellaco- slang term used in Puerto Rico to determine someone being in “heat” or having sexual desires. English slang term, Horny
Cabrón/Cabrona - A person whose loved one is being unfaithful. A bad situation or object. Depending on the context, it is also used when something or someone is very good as the word “Bad” when you mean something is really cool. It’s also a derogatory word you can use to insult someone, like for example: You bitch(so puta)…so cabrona. Additionally the masculine term cabrón is commonly used by male teenagers and young men to refer to each other as “dude”.
And this one…I make a separate emphasis because we use it so often…
Caco - Typically used derogatorily in reference to small-time thugs and people who listen to Reggaeton music. Originates from the Greek god of treachery and thieves, Cacus and much later in Spain was used to refer to a common thief and was thus spread to other Spanish-colonized countries in the new world. Might also imply the person in question is somewhat mentally challenged or who tries to look and act like a “gangsta”.
When I was a girl, Wonder Woman was my favorite super hero. I was a fan of the TV series with Lynda Carter. I even asked my grandma to sew me a Wonder Woman costume for Halloween (not an easy task considering I was a chubby girl). Someday I’ll share those photos…
NBC is remaking the series (oh, well), and they released the Wonder Woman costume (to the left). I agree with hawkstudios that the colors are off.
The photo on the left is what NBC released. The photo on the right is what i think the colors should have been. The color difference makes a huge difference.
Lord, watch over our brothers and sisters of Japan as they cling to life, and fight the anxiety of aftershocks and potential nuclear fallout. Grant them the grace of Your Presence so that their wounds may begin to heal. In Your mercy, hear us, O Lord.
